TEMPORARILY OFF THE MARKET
This dramatic house was designed by Colorado architect Charles Haertling in 1970. Comprised of five concrete, glass, and copper cubes juxtaposed on a hillside, the structure is reminiscent of works by Le Corbusier or Louis Kahn.
The strong texture of the exterior is cast-in-place concrete, hand-chiseled to a ribbed effect like corduroy. Inside, the ribbed concrete serves as draperies, wrapping the openings of windows and doorways of the loft-like space. Rich oak floors and redwood ceilings are a lush contrast to white gallery walls. The vertically oriented space is lit by skylights and tall windows that frame city and mountain views. A series of rooftop decks and courtyards embrace the surrounding landscape.
Like the mythical paradise, Shangri La is a hidden street in Hilltop, one of Denver’s most luxurious urban neighborhoods.
